- I am interested in joining karate but I feel a bit nervous about what to expect
On your first training session, we will take you through some basic karate, to build your understanding and confidence. There are many people who would like to start karate but don’t because they fear the unknown. Δ
- What do I need to bring
On your first session, just bring yourself, wear some loose clothing, and as we train in bare feet make sure your toe nails are trimmed. Δ
- My children want to train, can I train with them
Of course, we are proud that we bring families together to spend quality time, we have also found that 85% of parents who bring their children actually become students. Δ
- What will I expect on my first session
Nothing is expected of you on the first session, we will go through a warm up with some stretching exercises and an explanation of how things work in the world of karate, before being taught some basic moves. Δ
- Will I get hurt
No in short, although people think they will. Karate is a controlled environment, and no contact is made during training sessions. Δ
- Do I have to grade
There is no requirement to grade, and you will not be pressured to grade, although taking a new belt gives you a great sense of achievement. Δ
- Can I transfer from another karate school
If you move to Fudoshin your grades will be recognised, in addition you will also receive a months free training. Δ
- I have a friend who is interested can they come along
Yes, it is always nicer to go with a friend, children and juniors should be accompanied by an appropriate adult. Δ
- My child has some specific needs can he come along too
We welcome students with specific needs and disabilities, we are familiar with conditions such as ADHD, asphergers, dyspraxia, students effected by there conditions greatly benefit from the structure of karate. One to one or small group sessions are conducted for more severe disabilities and are highly successful for those students taking part. Δ
