James Harris - The New JKS National Kumite Champion

Fudoshin Karate took a convoy of cars to the JKS (Japan Karate Shotorenmai) Karate Championships in November. The JKS is a traditional organisation headed by Ireland based 5th dan Sensei Scott Langley.
All the disciplines were covered including kata and kumite categories, with the preliminary kata rounds consisting of heian katas chosen at random by the chief referee giving competitors of all grades the intention and motivation to practise all the heian katas.
The kumite involved some excellent refereeing with a more traditional and common sense approach to control and the issue of warnings for excessive contact, which following the last open championships was something that Fudoshin fighter Paul Morris was pleased about!
But dominating to the championship win in the kumite on the day, was James Harris who stamped his authority in his category of good quality fighters to take a very spirited gold medal and the national championship win. James is back training hard for more competitions and gold medals in 2012.
