Brown and Black Belt Karate training course in Woodhall Spa - The best yet!

Karate Black Belt Training | Fudoshin Karate NE Lincolnshire

What would you rather be doing at 10am on a glorious Sunday morning? Well for over 30 karate brown and black belt students and instructors it was enjoying gruelling sessions of world class karate!

Woodhall Spa was the venue for this special brown and black belt course headed by Sensei's Graeme Walden, Justin Beattie, Geoff Dixon and John McLauchlan, the chief instructors and heads of an exciting and emerging association.

Following a good warm up from Sensei McLauchlan, the classes were split into three, with each section of the class spending an hour with each instructor in rotation. In the first sessions of the day Sensei Dixon taught Meikyo kata and the relationship to it and other katas, as Sensei Dixon is also a black belt in Aikido he demonstrated the relationship and bunkai between Jitte kata and bo work, extremely interesting for all that took part.

Sensei Beattie focused on advanced dynamic movement, and implementing fast moves into kata and perfecting the speed and timing within kata for a much overall improvement, before moving onto kumite applications.

Sensei McLauchlan worked on transferring energy towards your opponent when executing techniques, and how to safely take a punch without injury. Kumite applications included koyokushin style fighting with limited control to the body, and long range punching for success in competition.

Sensei Walden reluctantly had to watch following doctors orders, but will be fighting fit on the next course.

The range subjects covered on the black belt course included karate kicks, punching, kata and kumite giving students a lot of information to learn from.

Karate Black BeltsThe course ultimately was a huge success and extremely enjoyable for all that attended and although we are in early days in the new emerging karate association, I'm sure that the people who trained on this course, on the Sensei Tomiyama Course in September and attended the BKA championships will agree that we have the makings of something very special, and something that is increasingly rare within karate, to have four senior and experienced instructors all reading from the same page, with the support and back up of the British Karate Association.

To work together and form bright new beginnings in a structured and professional way, is something to be very excited about, and further progress will be made as more and more students from all the respective clubs start to attend all the courses and training on offer.
